This trips takes you to all four corners of Iceland and you will experience this stunning country with all it's amazing beauty and force. From soothing dips in natural geothermal pools to exciting treks across ancient glittering glaciers or tumbling waterfalls, you will discover many facets of Iceland while enjoying unique and fun-filled experiences along the way.
DAY 1 - WELCOME TO REYKJAVIK
Pick up your rental car and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore Reykjavik. Overnight in Reykjavik.
DAY 2 – SNORKELING AT THINGVELLIR NATIONAL PARK - GOLDEN CIRCLE (B)
Your first stop today will be at the UNESCO World heritage site of Thingvellir National Park, meeting point of the American and Eurasian tectonic plates and location of the first Icelandic parliament. Dive into the fissure to discover an underwater scenery that cannot be found anywhere else on earth. Stop at the hot spring area around Geysir, home to the hot water spitting Strokkur, and head on to the magnificent Gullfoss Waterfall. Finish your day with a relaxing dip in the thermal waters of the Secret Lagoon near Fludir before heading to your accommodation for the night. Overnight in the Hella area.
DAY 3 - ALONG THE SOUTHERN COAST (B)
Stop at the Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss Waterfalls, two of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland, and visit the magnificent Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon, which was carved into the rock by water running from the glacial lake after the last ice age. Take a short hike into the 2km long canyon surrounded by steep, up to a 100m high walls. Discover the beautiful Mýrdalsjökull Glacier on a snow-mobile before finishing the day with a stroll along the Reynisfjara black sand beach. Overnight on the South coast.
DAY 4 - GLACIER HIKE - JOKURSALON LAGOON BOAT TOUR (B)
Explore the Falljökull glacier on guided hiking tour, enjoy the beautiful scenery and test your skills climbing up the ancient ice. A boat tour in the Jokursalon lagoon will take you around icebergs and to places that cannot be seen from the shore. Overnight on the South coast.
DAY 5 - THE EASTERN COAST (B)
Pass small villages, dramatic coastlines, narrow fjords, waterfalls and mountains as you travel towards the East of Iceland. There are plenty of options to discover East Iceland's stunning scenery on foot today, for example at the Hengifoss, Gufufoss and Klibrekkufossar waterfalls or the Seydisfjordur Fjords. Overnight in the Egilsstadir area.
DAY 6 - THE WILD NORTH EASTERN COAST (B)
Take your time and travel along the rough and quiet coastal area of Northern Iceland today, which will enchant you with its wild beauty. After a dip in the Selardalgslaug hot pot, take a hike around the Rauoanes peninsula and follow the coastal road all the way to Husavik, where you will embark on a whale watching tour in the Northern Atlantic. Overnight in the Husavik area.
DAY 7 - THE DIAMOND CIRCLE (B)
The Diamond Circle route brings you to the horseshoe-shaped Asbyrgi canyon, the thundering Dettifoss waterfall and the wonderful thermal Myvatn lake. Explore the moon-like area around Myvatn covered with bubbling muddy holes, steaming fumaroles and stunning lava formations on a fat-bike tour before soaking up the wonderful scenery from the thermal waters of the lake. Overnight in Akureyri.
DAY 8 - WILD RIVER RAFTING (B)
Enjoy a slow morning in Akureyri and take the opportunity to visit one of the museums or galleries dedicated to local artists and to relax in one of the many traditional coffee shops in Iceland's second biggest town. The mighty Vestari Jökulsá welcomes you for a river rafting adventure to explore Iceland's wilderness and raft along hot springs and magnificent canyon landscapes. Overnight in Hvammstangi.
DAY 9 - WILDERNESS AND HOT POOLS ON THE WESTFJORDS (B)
The quiet East coast area on the Westfjords is dominated by massive fjords and high mountains. The coastal drive takes you to the little village of Drangsnes, where you can relax in the three small public whirlpools overlooking the coastline and the stunning Steingrimsfjordur fjord. Take in the fabulous views and a feeling of wilderness as you head further North along the coastal road before returning to Holmavik for the night. Overnight in Holmavik.
DAY 10 - THE HEART OF THE WESTFJORDS (B)
Cross over to the Northwestern fjords and follow the winding road along Isafjaroardjiup, the biggest fjord in the region. Pass through the small fishing village of Sudavik, from where you can enjoy amazing views across the fjord to Hornstrandir and stop for a visit to the arctic fox museum. Once arrived to Ísafjörður, you will be taken on a mountain biking tour around the area. Overnight in the Ísafjörður area.
DAY 11 - THE WESTERN FJORDS (B)
You will continue along the vast Western coast along beautiful valleys and fjords. Stop in the small town of Flateyri to visit the local nonsense museum and take a tour to the beautiful peaks on the Pingeyri peninsula, which are a paradise for hikers. Stop at the scenic Dynjandi waterfall before checking in for the night. Overnight in the Western Fjords.
DAY 12 - LATRABJARG - RAUOASANDUR - SNAEFELLSNES PENINSULA (B)
The Latrabjarg peninsula is known for its stunning sea cliffs, which are stretching over 12km along the coast and are home to millions of birds. You will also find lonely beaches in the area, offering plenty of opportunities for long walks, like the beach outside Breidavik or the stunning red and golden sand beach Rauðasandur. Ferry crossing over the Vatnsfjördur. Overnight on the Saefellsnes peninsula.
DAY 13 - SNAEFELLSNES PENINSULA (B)
The fascinating Snaefellsnes peninsula is characterized by lush green fjords, volcanic hills and dramatic sea cliffs. Discover the diverse beauty of the peninsula today, passing golden beaches and craggy lava fields, picturesque villages and stunning bays. The highlight is the spectacular Snaefellsjökull glacier, which featured in Jules Vernes classic novel “Journey to the center of the Earth”. You will finish the day kayaking on the calm waters of the Breidafjordur Bay known for its uncountable islands and diverse wildlife. Overnight on the Snaefellsnes peninsula.
DAY 14 - THE WEST COAST (B)
Your last day will take you to Delidartunguhver, Europe's biggest hot spring, and the waterfalls of Barnafoss and Hraunfossar. The hike up the Canyon to Glymur Waterfall offers a last chance for a scenic hike before making your way back to Reykjavik. Overnight in Reykjavik.
DAY 15 - REYKJANES - DEPARTURE (B)
The North-American tectonic plate rises on the peninsula of Reykjanes, leaving a diverse landscape with volcanic and thermal activity, which is classified a a UNESCO Global Geo-Park. If you fancy one last swim in the thermal waters, you should visit the famous Blue Lagoon. Drive to the airport and departure
