Many of Iceland's natural wonders are located in the Southern and Western area of the island. You will find black beaches stretching along the Atlantic, geysers spitting from geothermal fields, beautiful waterfalls thundering through canyons while active volcanoes complete the panorama of rough and unspoiled scenery. Travel from Snaefellsnes in Western Iceland via the Golden Circle all the way to the Jokursalon Bay in the South and take in some of Iceland.s most beautiful areas.

 

TOUR DETAILS

DAY 1 - WELCOME TO REYKJAVIK

Pick up your rental car and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore Reykjavik. Overnight in Reykjavik.

DAY 3 - SNAEFELLSNES PENINSULA (B)

The Snaefellsnes peninsula is often referred to as a mini-version of Iceland as the stunning peninsula shows a cross section of the natural wonders made from fire and ice. Pass by lush green fjords, volcanic hills and dramatic sea cliffs as you drive through pretty little villages and craggy lava fields.Visit the stunning Kirkjufellsfoss Waterfall and the spectacular Snaefellsjökull Glacier National Park. Overnight in the Borganes area.

DAY 4 - SNORKELING AT THINGVELLIR NATIONAL PARK - GOLDEN CIRCLE (B)

Your first stop today will be at the UNESCO World heritage site of Thingvellir National Park, meeting point of the American and Eurasian tectonic plates and location of the first Icelandic parliament. Dive into the fissure to discover an underwater scenery that cannot be found anywhere else on earth. Stop at the hot spring area around Geysir, home to the hot water spitting Strokkur, and head on to the magnificent Gullfoss Waterfall. Finish your day with a relaxing dip in the thermal waters of the Secret Lagoon near Fludir before heading to your accommodation for the night. Overnight in the Hella area.

DAY 5 - ALONG THE SOUTHERN COAST (B)

Stop at the Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss Waterfalls, two of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland, and visit the magnificent Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon, which was carved into the rock by water running from the glacial lake after the last ice age. Take a short hike into the 2km long canyon surrounded by steep, up to a 100m high walls. Overnight in the Skaftafell area.

DAY 6 - SEA KAYAKING IN JOKURSALON - SNOW-MOBILE VATNAJOKULL GLACIER (B)

Make your way to the beautiful Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, which was formed by melting waters of an outlet glacier of Vatnajökull. A sea kayaking tour will take you to hidden gems around the lagoon and explore the floating icebergs from a close distance. Jump on a snow-mobile in the afternoon and enjoy breath-taking views over valleys and volcanic peaks as you power over the ice of the largest glacier in Europe! Overnight in the Skaftafell area.

DAY 7 - GLACIER HIKE AND ICE CLIMBING - REYNISFJARA BEACH (B)

You will join a guided hiking tour on the Falljökull glacier, which will take you through a wonderland of glacial ice sculptures and deep crevasses. You will learn about the formation and history of Iceland's glaciers and how to climb up the ancient ice. Stop at the beautiful Reynisfjara black sand beach and the Stjórnarfoss and Systrafoss waterfalls on your way back to Vik. Overnight in the Vik area.

DAY 8 - ICE CAVE - SEASIDE VILLAGES (B)

A superjeep tour will take you to the Myrdalsjokull glacier, where you will get to visit a crystal clear blue ice cave under the glaciers surface with a guided tour. Heading back to the Western coast, you will pass through the picturesque coastal villages Eyrarbakki and Stokkeseyr with their beautiful wooden houses. Overnight in Selfoss/Reykjanes area.

DAY 9 - REYKJANES - DEPARTURE (B)

The Reykjanes area on the Southwestern tip of Iceland is a UNESCO Global Geopark and it is here where the North-American plate rises from the ocean and has formed a stunning landscape over time, filled with craters, caves and lava fields. Take a stroll along one of the black sand beaches, admire the steaming muddy pools at Gunnuhver hot springs or visit Lake Kleifarvatn, Icelands deepest lake. You will also find the famous Blue Lagoon bath on the peninsula. Drive to the airport and departure.

DAY 2 – GLYMUR WATERFALL - DELIDARTUNGUHVER - VIOGELMIR ICE CAVE - KRAUMA (B)

Hike up to Glymur, Iceland's second highest waterfall, along a beautiful canyon from Hvalfjordur. Continue to Delidartunguhver, Iceland's largest hot spring, and visit the beautiful Hraunafoss and Bornafoss waterfalls. Explore the Víðgelmir lava cave, the largest and one of the most beautiful lava caves in Iceland before finishing the day relaxing in the hot waters of Krauma. Overnight in the Borganes area.
