Get active in the UNESCO listed Douro Valley and the beautiful Peneda-Gerês National Park while enjoying quality time with the family.

From the green and lush pastures of Northern Portugal, the central highlands and rolling fields of Alentejo to the golden sandy beaches of the Algarve, Portugal is a varied country, offering a great choice of family-friendly activities and experiences. Portugal is easy to travel and despite every region being so varied, it is well possible to explore different regions and areas in a short period of time without traveling long distances.
Portugal is extremely kids and family- friendly with many accommodation dedicated to families, but at the same time you are not restricted to bigger resort hotels as many small guesthouses, quintas and farms are happy and well prepared to cater for even the smallest guests.
Kids will love to venture through Portugal's historic villages and palaces, burn off steam on the sandy beaches and explore the scenic nature parks in every part of Portugal that hold fantastic outdoor activities and secret little surprises to be enjoyed with the whole family.
Even though it is possible to visit Portugal all year round, the best time to travel with the family and smaller kids would be between May and September when the weather is warm and families can make the most of the many active adventures set around the ocean, rivers and lakes.
