Dark misty mountains, mysterious loughs and wide lonely valleys are some of the key characteristics when it comes to Scotland's highlands and the Western coastline. It is a paradise for hiking and for anybody looking to experience unspoiled scenery in a relaxed and authentic way. Enjoy plenty of outdoor activities, including canoeing, kayaking, cycling, sailing or whale watching and experience excellent hospitality and gastronomy while you relax in traditional castles, mansions and cozy B&Bs.
Access to Scotland is easy through various international airports spread across the area and Scotland has an excellent network of roads, which are usually, apart from the main centers, not congested. Remember that you will have to drive on the left.
Scotland can be visited all year round, though the conditions in the West and Northern Scotland can be rough over the winter months and many places can be closed. April to October offer great conditions to enjoy many outdoor activities in pleasant conditions and most of the terrain will be fairly well dried up.
